About Dave

I got my start with riding motorcycles in 2003 with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  I bought a Triumph Sprint ST as my first bike, and survived that poor decision - it's a big, heavy bike for a beginner.  Still, I enjoyed riding it, and put over 10k miles on it the first year.

In 2004, I signed up for the Kevin Schwantz Suzuki School at Road Atlanta to improve my riding skills, and that's when I was bitten by the bug.

In 2005, I did my first track day with NESBA at Barber, and completely fell in love.  Since then, I have done a LOT of track days (probably 150-200), and have ridden on lots of tracks, including Phillip Island in Australia.

In 2006, I attended the Cornerspeed Level1 and 2 classes at VIR, and the Ed Bargy Racing School at Barber, getting my WERA race license.  I raced in 2006 until a crash at Road Atlanta ended my season.  I skipped 2007 and raced a few times in 2008, taking a bunch of top 10 finishes.  Then I skipped 2009 so that I could focus on instructing with NESBA.

Now, in 2010, I'm still instructing with NESBA (and loving it), and I'm back racing with WERA.  So far, I'm doing pretty well, with a lot of race wins.  My goal for this year was to get top 5 finishes in the championships that I'm contesting (all 6 of them), but it looks like I'm in contention for a top 3 finish in all of them.

Next year...who knows?  I expect that I'll be moved up to Expert, and my goal is to race (though not every event) and contend for top 10 finishes.
